Hello Fred, thank you for the nice welcome. I will post pictures later if thats possible to show what Orchid it is and also the damage I did. I dont know what kind of Orchid, it is or "was" as it was the first Orchid I have ever had.
It was a valentines gift from my Fiance, so needless to say im quite frustrated with myself...

Ok in short. Last week it dropped its last flower after a lovely bloom, while it was dropping it set up another stem to the left of the active stem. Growing good and strong...well. He cut down the old stem and the stick to support it was moved. I about 30 minutes ago, got the little "hair clip"<--it looks like one and went to attach it to it...only to have the new stem break in half

I will post pictures so you can understand better and see how much as come off. And I hate to admit it but I had a little cry *blush*
