In northern England your temperatures outside now probably have the proper range to flower the plant this year.

It definitely wants a temperature drop, but the conditions can be created artificially. Here in Florida the growers heat the plants in the winter and cool them in spring to have flowers for the summer.

The best for a hobbist is to chose a month with a 15-20 drop in temperature from day to night and keep it outside for that month.
