Talking Advice, Info, Help!!!

Hi, I have a Phalaenopsis 'Brother Pico Circle' (that's what it says on the label) I have had this beautiful plant for approx 1 year, when i bought it it was in flower and continued to flower for a further 2 months (approx) after the flowers had all died i was was given two different pieces of information, firstly i could cut the stem to just below a 'node?' or remove the entire stem and i should get a new stem with more flowers in about 9 months, i chose the second option- the plant is healthy and has produced a beautiful 'new leaf' however there is no sign of a new stem. This is the first time i have kept this plant am i being impatient? I live in the North East of England so the plant is kept indoors all year round and is only watered when the roots appear 'white' this info was given to me when i bought it sorry to 'waffle on' but it's so nice to find someone to ask.
Thanks in anticipation.
