| Cynthia, I wish I was able to dedicate a couple of weeks to doing all the repotting needed. I do it a batch at a time, but I know it would be quicker and more efficient if I could just stay set up and continue repotting until it's all done.
I learned the hard way that it's not good to keep other types of plants (like African violets) in the same GH with the orchids. It seems that non-orchid plants are pest and disease magnets, and they eventually spread whatever they have to the orchids. Since my GH has been exclusively orchids, they've had far fewer problems. Until last year I had a hibiscus plant that was a posh hotel and resort for aphids. Last winter I put it outside, thinking it (and the aphids) would die in the cold, but it's now full of nice green leaves. No way it's going back in the GH. I guess it goes in the ground now that I know it can survive a winter outside. |
