Fred, the wire is plastic coated aluminum. I usually use panty hose but it's so ugly to me. I am slightly handicapped in my hands so fishing line is somewhat of a challenge. I also use the long pipe cleaners sometimes. The fuzz on them dries quickly and has caused no problems, which I was initially concerned about. The roots on this mount are under the two new growths at the top. I guess you are saying I am fine as is and need not add more spagh. Your mounts are beautiful! Someday I will have a porch full of them! You just wait and see
