gallery use sugestions

The number of photographs on the gallery is increasing and as it gets larger it will become a good reference souce. At the same time it becmes more important to find easier ways to locate the photos desire.

The search feature might be a little confusing the first time you use it.

This is the 'search' in the gallery strip on the first page of the forum or in the gallery itself. Do not confuse it with the 'search' in the green bar. It is the 'search' on the next line. The green bar search will search the text messages throughout the forum returning text messages, while the second search is limited to only the gallery.

The search options are easy to understand and self explanatory. When entering the 'keyword' use part of the name unique enough to limit the search results but do not try to type in the exact name. Even one letter wrong, a period after the genus abbreviation, or an additional space or lack of a space will result in no match.

Examples.
'paph' will bring in all lady slippers with the abbreviation or the full name papheopedlium, whereas a 'papheopedium' will find only those photos using the full name missing any using the abbrviation or any misspelled.

If too many photos are returned (hopefully a nice problem for the future ) you can add more to the search such as 'paph glory' with will return all photos with both the letters 'paph' and 'glory' anywhere in the name or keywords. Or limit the search to only certain photographers, etc.
